At the invitation of Mr. Sergei Mironov, Chairman of Russian Federation Commission, Mr. Wu Bangguo, Chairman of National People’s Congress paid a visit to Russia in May 2004. In order to further enhance trade and economic exchanges and cooperation, China National People’s Congress
and the Russian Federation Commission jointly held the “China-RussiaRegional Trade and Economic Cooperation Forum” in Moscow on May 25, 2004. Mr. Sergei Mironov, Chairman of the Russian Federation Commission and Mr. Wu Bangguo, Chairman of National People’s Congress were both present at the forum’s opening ceremony and delivered speeches. About 200 representatives from China and Russia attended the forum.

Entrusted by the People’s Congress, the Ministry of Commerce organized an enterprise delegation of a hundred entrepreneurs, who also visited Russia and participated in the China-Russia Trade Cooperation Forum. After the forum, the entrepreneurs of the two parties also attended some of the exchange events..

With the authority of the Ministry of Commerce, the China international Center for Economic and Technical Exchanges(CICETE) undertook the organizing task of entrepreneur delegation and other logistics service of the forum.
