Programme Introduction |

In 1984, during European Community’s visit to China, as a member of the delegation, the former D.G for Department of Translation & Interpretation, EC, discussed with MOFCOM about the future cooperation in training the senior interpreters of China. With the concerted efforts, the China-EU Simultaneous Interpreter Training Programme was kicked off in 1985. The programme is mainly responsible by Department of Human Recourses and implement by China International Centre for Economic and Technical Exchange.
According to the agreement, EU sends judges and experts to China for selection of training candidates. These candidates mainly come from affiliates to former MOFTEC, local Departments of Commerce and other Ministries, and 20 of them will be selected as trainees and send to Brussels, the headquarter of Department of Translation & Interpretation, EC, for 5 month’s training in two batches seperatedly.
Great achievements have been attained over the past 20 years; Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of Foreign Affairs are the main beneficiaries of the programme. |
